Dear Parents,
To better communicate with you about the progress of your child, we will do the
following:
Communication with teachers (Teachers will make every effort to reply within 24 hours)

You can always send in a note with your child or leave a message with the
office (301)-840-7149.
Homework
 The purpose of homework is to extend learning and provide practice in
applying concepts presented in the classroom.
 Homework will be directly related to classwork.
 Homework will be given 3-4 times a week (students may be asked to do
incomplete classwork at home if they are falling behind in their work)
 Teachers will clearly and specifically state if a homework will be graded.
 Estimated time allotment will be 30-45 mins. If homework becomes an
issue, please send a note or discuss with your child’s teacher.
Feedback/Grades
 Feedback and grades on a reading and math assignment will be written or
attached to the students’ work.
 Feedback is for students to understand how they can improve and for
parents’ to help reinforce skills.
 Formative math and reading assessments will receive feedback.
Newsletters
 A monthly newsletter will be sent home giving information about the
events in 3rd grade for the month.
Interims
 Interims will be sent home for students who are not meeting standards in
the subject areas.
 Interims are sent home mid-quarter and should be reviewed, signed, and
returned to the teacher.
