their multiplication and division facts at
home.
We want to thank all those parents who
helped to make our Halloween parties so
festive!
Fall Weather
Just a reminder to make sure that
your child wears/brings a jacket to school
to stay warm, especially in the mornings
and during recess.
Reading
Parent Conferences
First report card parent conferences
are scheduled for Wednesday, November
11th and Thursday, November 12th. We
hope that you are able to attend! If you
have any further questions, please feel
free to contact one of us!
Our reading focus for November
will be primarily on poetry and plays.
Concepts that will guide our
instruction include:
 Point of view
 Theme of the poem/play
 Literal and non-literal words
 Central message
 Character’s actions
Math
We will continue to study multiplication
and division this month. Below are some of
the concepts that we will be covering:
 Fact fluency
 Table patterns
 Word problems
 Modeling equations
 Writing equations
Language Arts/Writing
We will continue to develop writing
skills in both narrative and informational
writing. We will focus on:
 Voice
 Event sequence
 Short compositions
 Inquiry Project on Changes in
Technology

We will continue to work on Daily
Oral Language Skills to help with
grammar/usage, capitalization and
punctuation. The students are
expected to use these skills in
their independent writing.
Science
In November, we will focus on
conservation of matter characteristics
and scope of technology in science. We
will learn about:
 Changes to physical properties or
materials
 Human needs to influence
technology
Social Studies
Our focus this month will be health
education concepts and geographical
characteristics. The following concepts
will guide our instruction:
 Safety skills
 Geographic characteristics of
North America and Montgomery
