The rest of our school year will be focused on two things in math: First, students share their informative pieces with peers as a part of pre-writing for an opinion text. Students write opinion pieces that introduce a topic, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion and provide some sense of closure. They use a technology tool to add drawings or other visual display to clarify ideas in their opinion text. Peers respond to questions and suggestions from peers to strengthen writing. Use of language instruction focuses on singular and plural nouns, verb tenses, complete sentences, conjunctions, simple and compound sentences and determiners. Taken from MCPS (Instructional focus MP 4). shapes time As students are exploring different 2-D and 3-D shapes, they will be able to identify a shape by its attributes (how many sides, corners, etc.).
