October Newsletter
Ms. Burr, Mrs. Everhart,
Mrs. Lavo, Ms. Mallick,
Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Morris,
Mrs. Pearce,
Each month you will be receiving a newsletter in which the second grade team will
inform you of important dates and upcoming events. We will also give you a summary of
what your child will be learning in each subject during the month. At the beginning and middle of each quarter, you will also
receive the newsletters created by Montgomery County Public Schools to let you know important information about what
your child will be learning in reading and math and ways you can help at home.
We are looking forward to seeing you at open house on Monday, October 12th from 9:30-12:30! Please join us at
school so you can come see your child at work and his/her classroom!
Each evening, your child should be bringing home their homework folder and assignment book. Inside the back cover of the assignment book of in their homework folder, you will find 2 calendars. One is the behavior calendar. Each evening, you should see either a stamp or sticker from your child’s teacher indicating that they were respectful, responsible, and
safe at school, or you may see a note written by your child’s teacher about ways your child could have shown more respect.
Please sign or initial this box each night. The other calendar is the nightly reading calendar. Your child should be reading at
least 10 minutes each evening. After your child has finished reading, please help them record the number of minutes they
have read and initial the box in the calendar. Also please expect math and reading journal homework each night. Remind
your student to be sure to include text support in their answer for their reading homework, as this is something we are focusing on in class! Please make sure that the assignment book, homework folder, reading journal, and
reading group books are returned to school each day!
