Through the reading of a variety of texts in whole and small group settings, we
will:

discuss the roles of authors and illustrators

identify front cover, title page, back cover, and punctuation symbols

discuss how both print/text and illustrations/pictures convey meaning

follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page

retell using pictures and words

distinguish among letters, words, and sentences
