Important Information and Reminders
 Please remember to work with your child every night on their
homework. It is so important to develop good homework skills.
Return the homework every Friday!
 On October 29th, we will be going to Summer’s Farm. Remember
to have your child bring a packed lunch and dress appropriately
for the weather.
News from our Specialists:
Art:
In October, Kindergarten students will begin working with color! We will read the
book Mouse Paint and practice mixing our own secondary colors using the three
primary colors: red, yellow and blue. After that, we are going to use our new
knowledge of line and color to create a picture of an ice cream cone!
Media Center:
Students are beginning to learn their roles and responsibilities as patrons of their
library media center. They are learning how to take of books, introduced to
reading signs and apply this knowledge to locating books in the library media
center. They will begin to collect and analyze data on classmates reading
interests during the month of October and will begin discussing the attributes of
fiction and non-fiction resources and analyze how these resources can be used
for learning.
P.E:
In Physical Education, Kindergarten students will be focusing on executing several
different locomtor skills including Hop, Jump, and gallop. They will also be learn
about Spatial awareness and how to move safely through an open environment.
Music:
We will discover the four ways we use our voices: speaking, singing, shouting, and
whispering. We will continue moving to the steady beat to show music that is
fast and music that is slow. We will also play singing games to help develop our
singing voices.
