Reading
Students will be using the Junior Great
Book, The King of the Frogs to create
opinions, find examples of leadership and
authority, and develop inferences.
Writing
We will identify common and proper
nouns. We will learn the parts of a
friendly letter and write letters to our
classmates.
Math
Students will learn addition strategies as
we compose and decompose numbers. For
example, 10=9+1, 10=8+2, 10=7+3 ...
10=5+3+2…..
Teacher’s Corner
Remember to practice playing your math
games at home There is the 10 Frame
game and we added the teen numbers to
that one. The different Tens and Ones
Fun game cards were sent home too!
We try to walk the “Bear” way in the hall.
This means we walk silently in a single file
on the right side of the hallway. We stop
at the stop signs and yield to other
classes or people. We keep our hands and
feet off the walls and look at student
work that is displayed without touching it.
Some classes are earning bears and trying
to win the trophy!
Social Studies
We will continue to learn about leaders in
our community. We will discuss how
authority is used to: keep people safe,
enforce rules or maintain order.
