First Grade’s Weekly Newsletter
Reading
We will retell stories including the key
details. We will also work collaboratively
when discussing our ideas. We will
practice many skills in literacy centers.
Writing
We will use our experiences to answer
questions and sequence the events in
our writing. We will add drawings to
our writing to make it clearer.
Math
We will count forward and backward and
count by 10s and 1s. We will count on by
10’s. We will identify numbers one more
and one less.
Social Studies
We will discuss rights and
responsibilities in our family, school, and
neighborhood.
Science
We will identify safe ways to observe
animals (mostly insects) in our
schoolyard.
Teacher’s Corner
Welcome to first grade!! We are off to a
fast start this school year and we can
already feel the time moving by too quickly!
Our routines are falling into place and we
are looking forward to a productive and fun
year! Below is a list of reminders.


Please remind your child to bring
his/her green folder back each day.
Please return all emergency forms with
appropriate changes.
We appreciate your help in making sure our
routines/procedures are followed!
