Northeast Missouri’s numerous public lands range from rich bottomland forests along the Mississippi River to scenic rolling hillsides. Theses diverse habitats support an equally diverse amount of wildlife–and hunting opportunities. Far too many to list, our popular game animals include white-tailed deer, Eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail, rabbit, squirrel, furbearers and waterfowl. During two of the most popular hunting seasons, Missouri hunters harvest about 200,000 deer and 60,000 turkeys annually. Where to go… HUNTING in the Northeast Region The Missouri Department of Conservation offers hunter education for people who would like to hunt but lack experience. Workshops and clinics are plentiful throughout the northeast area. Our Outdoor Skills Program offers adults and children the chance to learn hunting skills from experts in a safe, pressure-free environment. The program also offers people with mobility impairments access to hunting opportunities.
