What is AFI?
Assets for Independence (AFI) is a
Federal program through the
United States Department of
Health and Human Services that
provides funds for Individual
Development Account (IDA)
Projects. Participants are
required to save on a regular basis
and make deposits from earned
income.
What are IDA’s?
An Individual Development
Account, or IDA, is a special
matched savings account for
people with low-to-moderate
incomes. These accounts are
designed to help individuals and
families establish a pattern of
regular saving and ultimately
purchase an asset. Assets provide
financial security for the future.
For every $1 saved in the IDA
account , we match $3 towards
your asset purchase.
