Second Grade
Reading
In the beginning of the fourth
quarter, students will read
fiction and poetry. We will
focus on asking and answering
questions, describing how
words or phrases supply
rhythm, and comprehension
through whole group and
small group.
Writing
We are beginning a poetry
unit this quarter. Students
will explore the elements of
different types of poems.
Then students will write their
own poems.
Math
Students will continue to
practice basic facts to 20 to
gain fluency with addition and
subtraction. During this
quarter they will be introduced
to 3-digit by 3-digit addition
and subtraction. Students will
use their knowledge of place
value to solve these addition
and subtraction problems.
Social
DuringStudies
the beginning of fourth
quarter students will learn about
civics and history. Students will
learn about government leaders
and their contributions. Students
will also read biographies to
understand history and the
impact it has on today.
Science
Students will continue to care for the
plants in the garden and record
observations in a plant journal. They
will also compare the basic needs and
life cycle of different plants and
animals.

Segundo Grado
Lectura
En el principio del cuarto
semestre, los estudiantes
leerán ficción y poemas. Nos
estaremos enfocando en
haciendo preguntas y
contestando preguntas,
describiendo como palabras o
frases suplen ritmo, y
comprensión en grupos
grandes y pequeños.
Escritura
Estamos empezando una
unidad de poemas este
semestre. Los estudiantes
exploraran los elementos de
diferentes clases de poemas.
Los estudiantes también
escribirán sus propios poemas.
Matematica
Los estudiantes continuaran
practicando las sumas y restas
basicas hasta 20. Durante este
semestre, los introduciremos a
sumas y restas con números
de 3 digitos. Los estudiantes
utilizarán su conocimiento
sobre el valor de posición para
resolver estos problemas de
suma y resta.
Estudios
Sociales
Durante las primeras
semanas
del cuarto semestre los
estudiantes aprenderán acerca de
cívica e historia. Los estudiantes
aprenderán acerca de los líderes
del gobierno y sus
contribuciones. Los estudiantes
también leerán biografías para
entender la historia y el impacto
que aún tienen
hoy.
Ciencia
Los estudiantes continuaran cuidando
sus plantas en el jardin and
escribiendo sus observaciones en su
diario. Tambien van a comparar las
necesidades básicas y los ciclos de
vida de diferentes plantas e animales.
