Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the 2016 Churchill Cheerleading Tryouts. The
main objective of the Churchill High School Cheerleading Program is to support
the athletic teams by promoting school spirit & sportsmanship. Through
cheerleading, athletes will develop leadership in order to represent the school
with honor and dignity.
For the upcoming year, the Varsity team will be continuing the format of their
two seasons. This new format will give athletes the option of participating for
fall, winter or both seasons. As usual, each season will require a tryout.
Information regarding the Winter Season tryout will be available mid-November.
To participate in the fall 2016 tryout, you MUST complete and return the
following on or before Wednesday, May 25, 2015.





Expectations
All candidates must:
 Be academically eligible
 Have all required forms completed and returned
 Come with a positive attitude 
 Attend ALL clinic days
 Bring a water bottle
 Dress appropriately each day of clinics and tryouts:
o A white or gray shirt and dark shorts
o No Churchill Cheerleading paraphernalia
o Track or Soffe shorts for bottoms (No briefs!)
o Tryout outfit must adhere to school policy
o Remove all jewelry prior to the start of clinics or tryouts
o Pull hair up and out of their face
Procedures
Clinics and Tryouts will be conducted in the Main Gym at Churchill High School.
A tentative tryout outline is listed below.
Day 1:
Introduction to all material (cheer & dance)
Day 2:
Review material from previous day
Tumbling & Jump Warm-Up
Stunt Group Placement & Warm-up
Day 3:
Tumbling & Jump Tryout
Stunt Tryout (groups will be selected for you)
Day4:
Final Tryout (cheer & dance)

All portions of tryouts will be closed. Final tryouts will be conducted before a
panel of four judges. Team placement will be based on overall tryout score and
coach’s discretion. Team selections will be posted in the front of the school by
5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd (Final tryout day). Individuals wishing to inquire
about strengths and weaknesses of their tryout may request this information via
email ONLY.
