Compare and Contrast City States:

WS 6: 2012 Greece Project
SWBAT: design a presentation that explains the major cultural achievements of the Greek civilization, such as art, science, political systems, and philosophy. City‐States • The students will choose one city we studied (either Sparta or Athens) and one city we did not study (either Corinth or Thebes.) • The students will become experts on one of the topics (Government, economy, education, and treatment of women and slaves) for each of the cities they choose. (If working in pairs, each student picks one topic). • The students will research their topic and create a power‐point presentation that compares and contrasts the two cities (shows similarities and differences). • The students must also decide which city they would prefer to live in if they went back in time to live in ancient Greece and provide an argument with at least three reasons why they would want to live in that city. If working in partners: Example partner 1: Athens and Thebes form of government Example partner 2: Athens and Thebes treatment of women (or slaves)
