Jaguar Notes
Socializing is a part of college students' lives. It should reflect, at all times, the earmark of maturity.
GENERAL
1. Proper respect should be given by standing while singing our Alma Mater as well as the Alma Mater of
another school.
2. Pride should be shown in maintaining cleanliness and the beautification of buildings and grounds.
3. It is common courtesy to sit only after one has been invited to do so upon entering an office.
4. Loyalty should be shown to all school activities by attendance and positive support.
5. Always offer your assistance to a person who appears in need of it.
6. All students and student groups who travel off-campus to represent the University at specified
functions must adhere to the University's travel policy, a copy of which can be obtained from the Office
of Fiscal Affairs.
7. Cell phones are permissible on campus but should be turned off in classes and assemblies.

Do Homework
Talk to everybody – learn new things about your school, your major and yourself.
Think about what you want to do many years from now – then find a major to fit your ambitions.
Attend all classes and do all your assignments – you might learn something new.
If you need to drop, add or withdraw – do it officially. You start in the Registrar‘s Office.
There is cross registration between Southern University at Shreveport and Louisiana State University
at Shreveport. You may take one course at LSU-S if you are enrolled full-time at SUSLA. Start
paperwork at the Registrar‘s Office.
Keep all paperwork that pertains to your school days until you are out. Shoeboxes may look funny, but
they make fine storage boxes – (ex. Receipts, registration slips, grade sheet, etc.)
Read all bulletin boards – you might find something interesting to do.
Check your e-mail daily.
Get involved – join clubs, organizations – run for student office – attend social events – go and show
your support at the basketball games. All home games are free to students with current SUSLA ID
badges.
Your ID Badge is necessary to take advantage of your student activities, and to get grades and checks.
Lost and Found is located in the University Police Office (located east of the Johnny Vance, Jr. Student
Activity Center).
Free counseling services and tutor referrals can be obtained in the Office of the Counseling Center
which is located in the Fine Arts building.
