PTA Meeting Minutes
April 14, 2015

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously passed to approve the PTA meeting
minutes from March 10, 2015.
President’s Report (Beatrice Hanson)
Handout distributed. See attached.
Everyone was encouraged to get the word out to others to see if there is interest for the PTA
Board and Committee positions still open. List and descriptions attached. The current slate of
nominees for the 2015-2016 PTA Board:

The last student social in March had a low student turnout. There will be one more this year,
and more parent volunteers are needed.
Conversations That Count will be postponed until next year. Decision reached with Shady
Grove MS PTA President, both Principals and Coordinator Mimi Fleury. There was not
enough parent volunteer participation this year.
Budget is fine. There will be one more Restaurant Night at Chipotle – working to finalize the
date.
Principal’s Report (Everett Davis)

Important dates – copy attached.
o 04/23/15 – Take Child to Work Day – Would be an excused absence. Home
assignment to be completed.
o 04/27/15 – People to People Program Meeting – Letter attached.


6 students named to Honors Orchestra.
School news – copy attached.
o Coester – a community partner with Redland – helped redo courtyard and
entrance landscaping.
o School breakfast – pilot program to provide to all students. Hope to open to all
students next year.
o PARCC – End of Year (EOY) testing schedule to come out soon.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
