PTA Meeting Minutes
January 13, 2015
Attendees: Eduardo Ramirez, Tina Williams, Andrew Finch, Elizabeth Planz, Lisa Resnick,
Lisa Antoniacci, Lynn Sager, John Moriarty, Deirdre Appel, Dawn Trahern, Ellen Rahr,
Chrissy Gecoma, Meredith Singer, Maryline Sharp, Jane Tom, Beatrice Hanson, Mr. Davis
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously passed to approve the PTA meeting
minutes from October 14, 2014.
Treasurer’s Report (Beatrice Hanson for Robert Ostrinsky)
Spending: Slightly over for student directory. Spent on Honor Roll celebrations, Ice Cream
Social, student handbooks, Family Night, cultural arts: Prismatic Magic Laser Program (antibullying program for all grades).
Earning: Socials made $900 and there are still 3 more in the year. Restaurant Night at Ledo’s
did well, but Mamma Lucia did not do as well. All money has been deposited. Update will be
posted on website once Treasurer is done with the budget.
Grants Program: $2,000 was allocated and approved at the last meeting. Mrs. Huber has
submitted and Mr. Davis has reviewed an application for $1,350 for the Shakespeare Theater
Company to come in all 8th grade English classes in the 4th quarter. A motion was made,
seconded, and unanimously passed to approve the $1,350 for the Shakespeare Theater
Company program. Mr. Davis has not received any other grant applications.
MCCPTA Delegate’s Report (Meredith Singer)
Nancy King spoke at the Delegates meeting. Meeting topics included Capital Improvement
Program, operating budget, Frances Frost’s President’s report, and revising by-laws.
President’s Report (Beatrice Hanson)

There will not be a PTA meeting in February. The next meeting will be in March.
Principal’s Report (Everett Davis)


Thank you’s to PTA for support of a variety of events like Honor Roll celebration,
Career Day lunch, etc.
Lego League won a trophy that is displayed in the main office. Preparing for State
competition on 02/28/15.








Bulldog Dispatch (school newsletter) – Mr. Davis was interviewed by Redland
student. Copies provided.
Fridge Notes – Highlight some dates. Copies provided.
Semester exams period – 6th and 7th grades will follow regular bell schedule. Only 8 th
grade will have 2-hour exam periods so 6th and 7th grade students do not lose
instruction time.
2016 Budget Meeting – Beatrice Hanson will attend as cluster representative.
MCPS Open Data Portal – link for a lot of information
Invitation to Excellence – cluster principals share excellence about cluster schools.
o 1st meeting – area realtors
o 2nd meeting – Board of Education members
Student and stakeholder – parents can participate again after the honor roll
celebrations on 02/05/15.
Articulation Night for incoming 6th graders on 02/11/15.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
