Dear Mister President...
My sincere greetings. I am Jherita. I
am fifteen, and I’m immigrant. First of all, I
am so impressed for how the community has
been changing for the work that you’ve been
doing. And that’s good, but there are still
many
missing
things…
As an immigrant, I want to become
someone in my life, and I think it is the
dream of every immigrant too! Therefore, I
think that the government should give financial assistance to low-income university students, and provide residence facilities for all
students, even students who are undocumented.
However, students that receive these benefits
have to get good grades.
Moreover, when they
finish their studies they will have to return the
money that the government offered them, so in
this
way
nobody
loses.
Thank you for your time, and I am going to be waiting for an answer.
Today Mr. Obama many people in high school don’t understand
how to dress. They dress whatever they want, that’s not correct.
My name is Delaram. I came here
one year ago from Iran with a lot of goals
because I heard many times that America
is the land of opportunity. However, when I
came here one thing that surprised me is
some Persian people at school are afraid to
say where they are from!
Mr. Obama did you know your people
call Iranians terrorists? One time my 13
years old cousin came home with crying
eyes. We were all shocked! Finally she explained to us that one American boy told
her “You have a bomb in your binder!” Now
she is not proud to be a Persian.
Is that how people behavior to us? I
think you must change the way American
people think about us and I hope you will
give me response.
Mr. Obama did you know your people call
Iranians (living in America) terrorists?
Hello Mr. Obama, I’m Frank
and a good student too in esol 3
class. I come from Cameroon... Now Mr. Obama I’m going to explain how students don’t respect
their dress when they come to school. Today Mr. Obama many people in high school don’t understand how to dress. They dress whatever they want, that’s not correct. Let’s give
you some details how they dress at school:”some girls wore short skirts, then we
can see their butt, etc, the boys wore baggy jeans. They also put jewelry in front.
For me Mr. Obama students come at school to learn and not to show how they
can dress. Basically, Mr. President, I need you to fix some dress for us like:
wear uniforms. Then, you’ll tell to the administrators of the school to never
accept those who wear different dress.
Finally, Mr. Obama, in effect it’s all that I’ll need to talk to you. And
I think if you want their success in high school you must change how stuObam
abling
dents dress at school.

om
And I’m so happy because I tell my feelings to you. Finally, you
have to make jobs, train to people and give education to everyone.
My name is Shahin. First of all,
my country is IRAN, and I’m a Persian.
Anyway, I came here one year ago to begin a
new life with my family...I have this problem
today, because if I travel to my country then
I never can back to United States. However I
want you change this policy, please?! I hope
you can change this policy by making traveling agreement between these two countries,
because I want to visit my country and my
family!
Thanks, thanks and I hope you can
respond and answer me back, and do not forget that you always must help people especially in the United States.
My name is Leny. I’m from Honduras. I
came to this country four years ago with all my
family. We came because we had the opportunity to get legal papers (residency). It was great
that we had this chance. All my family is together learning new stuff. However life is difficult too. In my opinion you should help people
in Honduras. They need many things. Some people in Honduras don’t have homes. Some live under bridges...people need food, money and a place
to live so they cannot get sick.
In conclusion I think you should help
them. By sending money or programs and supplies. Thank you .
My name is Larry, and I’m original from
Puerto Rico. The thing that I want to talk
about are the school system.
1. The lunches at our school do not have
a lot of variety.
2. The start time for school is way too
early.
3. The homework is too much.
4. Public transportation has shelters at
their bus stops, but we don’t. We get
soaked waiting for the bus.
5. Parents should be able to have the bus
driver’s phone number in the event of
an emergency.
Finally, I hope you will work on it and
make people happy in your country. The other
thing is can you please respond back?
First, I feel like to tell you who
am I. My name is Charmi. I’m from India.
I came to the USA 2 years ago. I care
about this country but in this country there
are a lot of things not enjoyable. Here
school is better than my country’s school...I
like this country. However, I will to tell you
in the USA, people don’t have jobs because of
the economy. When you became president,
we people thought you were going to do
something. But still now nobody has good
job but we trust you still...And I’m so happy
because I tell my feelings to you. Finally,
you have to make jobs, train to people and
give education to everyone.
Lastly, I want to tell you you can do
anything you want. Please give me reply
that you will do something. I’m so sorry if
I said something bad and it hurts you.
My
name
is
Jamily, I’m from Brazil...I’m sending to you
this letter because I want
talk to you about educa- Jamily (on left) & Charmi (on right)
tion and college.
Well firstly, you really should do
something for undocumented immigrants to
go to college and get a good job for the future! I think everyone wants a good future
right? I think it’s not fair that undocumented immigrants can’t go to college. If
they can pay for college, I think the correct
thing is you let them go and study what
they want! Secondly, I think immigrants
ought to pay the same price like Americans,
no more and less, because it is not fair for
immigrants to pay more than Americans.
For example, Spanish- speaking people especially are much discriminated against than
other people. I really don’t know why, but I
can see this.
Finally, I think I wrote really
clearly for you understand that I really
want you to help immigrants. Please change
the policies of the universities like the University of Maryland.
