RHMS Adopt a Road Project!
What did we do for our SSL
project?
What can the community do to
help the environment?
So many people want to make a difference
but don't know how! Follow these simple
At Rocky Hill Middle School there is a
beautiful road. A beautiful road with
litter all over it. We, the 6th grade, have
decided to change that. Through out our
2008-2009 school year RHMS's 6th
grade has taken valuable time out of
their science classes to go outside and
pick up all the trash by Little Seneca
Parkway road and stream. RHMS has
joined the Adopt A Road project so that
each year sixth graders can help the
environment. Cleaning the environment
should not only be important to us but it
should be important to you too. So,
become a part of the problem solvers not
the problem maker and clean up a road
near you today.
tips and get ahead on going green.
1. Plant a tree: Every time you plant
a tree it's giving oxygen back to the earth.
The tree actually does the opposite as us;
takes in carbon dioxide and gives back
oxygen.
2. Make a compost pile: A compost
pile is basically a pile of food scraps, yard
waste, and worms. It takes a while but if
you add the right plant scraps, even edible
plants, soon you'll have soft beautiful soil
that would have gone to waste.
3. Drive green or don't drive at all:
A hybrid is a car that is green, from the gas
it uses to the engine it runs on. In short it
saves the world while saving you money at
the same time. Or, you could just walk.
Did you know that over half the distances
we ride in the car are less than two miles?
That's an easy distance to walk! So, get to
stepping!
