Meet the universities

Meet the Universities
Thinking about a degree in the chemical sciences?
MTU is back this summer. Mhairi Wilson tells us more
With all the university guides, prospectuses and advice
websites out there it can be difficult to navigate your
way through the maze of chemical science degrees
and universities on offer. How do you know which is
the best fit for you? That’s where Meet the Universities
(MTU) can help.
All in one place
If you’re thinking about a degree in chemistry, MTU
is a free annual event that allows you to meet staff
and students from over 30 universities – without the
trouble and cost of attending lots of separate open
days. No matter what stage you are at in your degree
decision, MTU has something to help.
Already shortlisted a few universities? Come along to
MTU and talk directly to the staff from each university
on your list to collect more information about their
courses. Already been offered a place? MTU gives
you the chance to chat to staff and students from
your selected universities, and to find out more about
your course and life on campus. Thinking about
reconsidering your chosen option? Talk to one of the
many institutions at MTU about other course choices
and explore alternative options.
This year the event will be held at the University of
Leeds on Saturday 29 June, and at the RSC’s Chemistry
Centre in London on Saturday 6 July.
What did students say about MTU 2012?
'An incredibly informative, positive and
encouraging experience'
'A quick way to obtain a wealth of information'
'It was a fantastic experience to talk face-to-face
to so many universities in one place. Everyone was
extremely friendly and helpful and I came back with
so much info!'
'Really useful day, got a lot of information and saved
me going all over the country to open days'
A large number of universities will be exhibiting,
including the University of Bristol, Cardiff University,
Durham University, University of York, and Nottingham
Trent University to name just a few (visit the MTU
webpage for the full list). Come along and find out
more about what they can offer.
There are sessions available in the morning and
afternoon at both locations – choose which one you
want to go to when you register online.
