Definition
Geotechnical engineering is the branch of civil engineering 
concerned with the engineering behavior of earth
materials , includes investigating existing subsurface
conditions and materials; assessing risks posed by site
conditions; designing earthworks and structure
foundations; and monitoring site conditions,
earthwork and foundation construction.
