Transforming Health Care through Practice Redesign
Learn how primary care practice transformation has served as the
fulcrum for health system change in a major academic health system

Michael K. Magill, M.D., is Hicken Professor and Chair of the Department
of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah’s School of Medicine and
executive medical director for the University of Utah’s Health Plans. He is actively working
in health care reform and practice transformation and is leading primary care service and
payment redesign for university practices caring for university employees and other
insured populations. Michael Magill served for 10 years as executive medical director
of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics/Community Physicians Group, a multidisciplinary medical practice. He has experience developing, researching, and teaching the
medical home model.
