Reading
To help with comprehension at home:
Before reading: Preview your child’s book, make
predictions and guess what new words will be in their
book
While reading: Monitor their reading (do they
understand), make connection (to self, to another
story, to the world), what did they have question
about and what things did they notice
After reading: Summarize story, think about what
they have learned
