Reading
Students will be learning
how to take quotes from
a text and develop an inference. Students will
explain how to use reasons and evidence to support particular points in a
text. We will also be
starting poetry which will
focus on Langston
Hughes, interpreting figurative language and determining the point of
view that is portrayed in
poems.

Science
Students will learn how

describe how light interacts with different materials. Students will carry

will also explain how re-
cent changes in transportation led to the growth

towns and cities in Maryland and the USA
Learning Skills:
Students will work on
the academic learning
skill of intellectual risk
taking which is accepting
uncertainty or challenging the norm to reach a
goal. They will attempt
novel tasks, make adjustments to meet challenges, & challenge themselves & others to advance skill levels.
The second learning skill
that students will focus
on throughout the
month is elaboration.
Elaboration is adding
details that expand, enrich or embellish.
