Reading and Writing


We asked and answered questions using words
such as who, what, when, why, and how to
demonstrate understanding of key details in a
text
We prepared for first grade by working and
reading independently as the teachers
administered the end of the year reading
assessments.
Math


We continued to work with addition and
subtraction word problems.
We used different strategies such as the ten
frames, double ten frames, manipulatives,
pictures, and words to solve word problems.
Optional Enrichment Activities:
Before reading a book, do a picture walk with your child
and write a list of questions using the words who, what,
when, where, why, and how.
Optional Enrichment Activities:
Ask your child to tell you a word problem. Solve it
together.
Science
Social Studies


We identified physical and behavioral features
that help animals survive in their environment.
We described and compared the external
features and movements of animals.
Optional Enrichment Activities:
Use clay and other materials to create a visual of an
animal in its environment.
