April 15, 2016 Reading and Writing We made words with different letter sound combination. We made predictions, made text-to-self connections, and discussed the dynamics of the characters. Optional Enrichment Activities: Ask your child to retell the story of Johnny Town Mouse. Which character would your child rather visit? Science Identify similar looking animals by comparing observable features. Sort animals based on their external features or what they do Optional Enrichment Activities: Go on a nature walk with your child and record all of the animals that you see. When you get home, explore how many different ways you can sort the animals. Math We continued working on solving story problems that involve both addition and subtraction problems. We practiced using ordinal numbers. Optional Enrichment Activities: Ask your child to write his/her own word problems. Social Studies We discussed the roles of consumers and producers. Optional Enrichment Activities: Count the coins in your house and practice “buying” fake items around the house.
