April 8, 2016 Reading and Writing We named the author and illustrator of texts. We described the relationship between illustrations and the text in which they appear. Optional Enrichment Activities: Ask your child to share about a story he/she heard this week and recall facts about the author. Science We compared the similarities and differences between humans and other animals. We described what people can do with their hands. Optional Enrichment Activities: Have your child share a fact that they are learning about their animal from their research projects. Math We worked with addition and subtraction. We worked on story problems. Optional Enrichment Activities: Write your own story problem based on a family activity from the weekend (i.e. Mom and I bought ten cookies at the store. Mom ate 9 cookies on our drive home. How many cookies are left?). Write it down on a piece of paper and bring it in to share with the class on Monday! Social Studies We recognized the different value of goods. We examined advertising and made connections with the value of goods to different people. Optional Enrichment Activities: Discuss choices you make as a family as you make purchases this weekend. Look at a print advertisement and discuss how the product was presented. Dates to Remember: 4/12 Spirit Day: Dress up as if you are participating in your favorite activity. 4/13 Picture Day 4/26 No school : Primary Election Day 5/2-5/3 Kindergarten Orientation – No school for Current Kindergarteners. 5/26- Mrs. J.
