Recycle Rangers

Recycle Rangers
How well are you recycling?
OES launched a new program called Recycle Rangers in 2011-2012. Now the
program has expanded to include all fourth graders. Under Mrs. Heritage, fourth
grade teacher, the Recycle Rangers are in charge of emptying the classroom
recycling containers. In the process, they collect data to see how well each
classroom is recycling. The Rangers stop by classrooms weekly to do their job
and record their data. All classrooms and staff members throughout the building
are encouraged to be involved in this green effort.
Recycle Rangers issue tickets to rooms if improvements are needed. Similarly,
they issue positive award tickets for jobs well done. The Recycling Rangers post
their data on a board near the lunchroom so everyone can monitor progress.
The Recycle Ranger program is a way to engage students in thinking about their
role in protecting the environment. By emphasizing recycling, we hope to
encourage everyone at our school to contribute to the future health of our planet
by being good stewards of the environment now, one recyclable at a time.
