Third Grade Times
Curriculum Updates:
Reminders:
Reading – Traditional stories (folktales,
legends, fables, myths)
- Complete the May Family project (habitat in a
shoebox). **This is a required project, and part
of your child’s Science grade. Check with your
child’s teacher for a due date.
Writing – Using pros & cons to inform and
to decide an opinion on an issue
Social Studies –Economics (budget,
goods, services, opportunity cost)
Science – Habitats & animal adaptations
for survival
Math –Telling time, elapsed time,
volume, mass, geometry
Teacher Tips:
- 3rd grade patrol recommendations will be given
to Mr. Picca at the end of the month. We are on
the lookout for students who are consistently
respectful, responsible, and determined (even
when no one appears to be looking!).
Important Dates:
May 9, 10, 11, 12 – Math PARCC testing
How to help your child with PARCC:
 Talk to your child about the
importance of doing his/her best
on the test.
 Make sure your child gets a good
night of sleep before testing.
 Be sure that your child is to
school on time on testing days
and try to avoid doctor
appointments on those days.
