Winter Break
At Greencastle, w e are starting The Reading Train. For ev ery 2 hours
students read during the 2nd Marking Period, they w ill receiv e a train cab that
they can decorate and w ill be displayed in the gymnasium.
Math:
Students should hav e math homew ork assigned to them nightly Monday
thru Thursday as w ell as occasionally on a Friday. Please keep an eye out for this.
During the Month of December, w e w ill be continuing our w ork on div ision.
Students w ill be div iding numbers using area models, rectangle arrays, and
partial quotients. I t is important for students to practice their multiplication tables
for they can be more proficient. This w ill make div ision easier for students. We w ill
also be w orking on fractions later this month.
Social Studies/Science
We w ill be continue our studies on the forming of America. The focus w ill
be on post-rev outionary w ar. We w ill be discussiong the Constitution and how
our nation came to be.
I n Science, w e w ill continue discussing electricty and circuits. Students w ill
be creating and exploring circuits in the classroom. We w ill ev en start to explore
the w orld of magnets and how they play a role w ith electricity.
Virtue:
December’s v irtue is Joyfulness. With the holiday season coming, please
help us reinforce the v irtue of joyfulness. We w ill discuss w ith students both the
joys of giv ing and receiv ing. Let’s express to students that this season is about
the joy of being together and the joy that w e hav e for each other.
