December 2015
Dear Parents and Students,
We hope that everyone enjoyed the long Thanksgiving
weekend!
Our third graders sponsored last month’s successful
Thanksgiving canned food drive, benefiting Olney Help, a worthwhile
organization that supports needy families in the area. Thank you to
Mrs. Blumberg for helping us as well as to all those who were able to
donate to this local cause.
Both third grade classes enjoyed the Mad Science in-school
field trip that took place on Monday, November 16, which focused on
motion (one of our science concepts.) We’d like to send a big thank
you to our generous Cashell PTA for sponsoring our learning
experience!
In case you haven’t ‘heard’ yet, our third grade students have
begun learning and practicing recorders under the terrific guidance of
our music teacher, Mrs. Boice! We really appreciate you giving your
children the chance to practice their recorder skills at home.
As the winter approaches and the weather becomes colder,
please make sure your children come to school with their coats and
other warm clothing (hats, mittens/gloves, scarves) for outdoor
recess. It is always a good idea to label each item.
In the New Year, third graders will be introduced to cursive
handwriting, and they will begin practicing letter/word formations in
the classroom as well as for homework. While we know that most
students are excited about this new skill, we would appreciate it if you
would remind them not to use cursive on their assignments until they
have had instruction in the classroom.
Have a wonderful and relaxing winter break!
Sincerely,
The Third Grade Teachers
