Head Start Newsletter January/February 2016 Dates to Remember Classroom News Friday, Febraury 26th- early dismissal, Head Start will dismiss at 10:50, please adjust your time to meet the bus. This has been quite a winter! Our class has been singing Ten Little Snowmen and enjoying the frosty temperatures. We finished learning about animals in January and started learning about using our imaginations in February. We have been reading books such as Ten Black Dots and Harold and the Purple Crayon. It has been fun being creative and pretending in class! Remember to check your child’s folder daily! Literacy Tip: Identify the letters in your child’s name in a book you are reading. Start with his/her first letter and then try the rest! Dress for Success! Please check the temperature and dress your child in layers for his/her comfort . We go outside every day. Tennis shoes are recommended so your child can avoid accidents on the playground. Lunch News Behavior Family style lunch is an important part of our day in Head Start. At this time, your child has the opportunity to practice skills, such as pouring milk, independently. This is also a time where we develop language skills and use our best manners. Please encourage your child to do the same at home during family meal times. At Clearspring Elementary, the behavior expectations are as follows: be safe, be respectful and be responsible. Lately we have been focusing on being respectful to our classmates and adults. We have talked about showing respect by listening when others are speaking. Another way we are practicing being respectful is by taking care of the toys and games in our classroom. Please encourage your child to do these things at home, too. Reminder from P.E. Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes on Fridays. This is when our class goes to P.E. and to be able to fully participate your child must be in appropriate footwear.
