First Grade Newsletter
September… We have spent the last
month getting to know your children and
establishing daily routines in all subject
areas. We have done formal testing in
both reading and math. It was a pleasure
to meet so many of you at Back to School
Night.

Writing: We are currently researching
an animal (student choice) using a graphic
organizer. We will be using our research
to write an informative paragraph about
our animal.
Math: We have begun learning about
writing equations and finding all the pairs
of numbers (addends) that make another
number (sum).

Homework: First Graders should read
Media: Please make sure that children
return books to school each week. We
are able to exchange books each week.

Reading: Our curriculum for this
MP includes fiction and informational
text. We are looking at key details by
asking and answering questions.

Special Reminders
If you would like to help with the
Halloween Party, please let your child’s
teacher know.
Behavior charts go home on Friday and
should be returned signed on Monday.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences will be
November 11th and 12th. If you were not
able to sign up at Back to School Night,
please contact your child’s teacher.
