January and February 2016
Read and Write for Google
Students in grades 3 thru 5 have been
practicing using the free resource, read
and write for Google. This feature can
be found on the Google app store and
allows students to use a text to speech
feature on almost any website. It is an
awesome resource to use when
researching a topic and accessing text
above their instructional reading level.
When students sign into their Google
account from any computer, a purple
puzzle piece icon appears in the
browsing bar. When you click on the
icon a read and write toolbar is
activated and students can click on the
“speech bubble” to activate the text to
speech feature. We are very excited
about using this at school and are
exploring other features daily. We will
continue to update you about new
features as we introduce them to the
students.
Supplies Needed!
All learning center classrooms are in
need of glue sticks, tissues, and hand
soap and sanitizer. If you would like to
donate one or more of these items to
your child’s classroom, it would be
greatly appreciated!
Inclement Weather and
IEP Meetings
Winter is in full swing and with winter
comes snow and school closings and delays!
When there is a delay and you have and
IEP meetings scheduled BEFORE
11:00 am, your IEP meeting will be
cancelled. If your IEP meeting is
scheduled AFTER 11:00 am, we will hold
the meeting as planned. If school
releases early and your meeting is
scheduled after 1:00 pm, your meeting will
be cancelled. If you ever have a question
about your meeting, please do not
hesitate to call Clearspring at 301-2537004 and ask. When schools are closed
on a day of your scheduled IEP meeting,
Britanny Miller will contact you when
schools reopen to reschedule the meeting.
We Need Your Help!
We have had many “no shows” for
scheduled IEP meetings lately. If you are
unable to attend an IEP meeting, please
call Britanny Miller and let her know or
indicate that you cannot attend on the
IEP meeting response form that is sent
home with the invitation letter. If you
are unable to come to Clearspring for the
meeting, we can always give you a call and
do the meeting over the phone. Thank you
for your support.
Please send in an extra change of clothes that your child can keep in their book
bags. Accidents happen and winter thaws bring irresistible puddles at recess!

sent home by your
child’s teacher.
