主语和谓语 The subject and the predicate
A sentence is normally divided into two parts, the subjects and the
predicate. Generally, the subject precedes the predicate, e.g.
1. 你好！
2. 我去商店。
If the language context is clear, the subject or predicate can be
omitted, e.g.
3. A : 你好吗？
4. A : 谁是学生？

B : (我)很好。
B : 他(是学生)。

宾语 The object
The object is an element related to a verb and usually follows the
verb, e.g.
1. 我认识他。
2. 他有一个哥哥。
3. 他是学生。

定语 The attributive
An attributive usually modifies a noun. Sometimes, the structural
particle “的” is needed between the attributive and the headword,
e.g. “王兰的朋友”; at other times, however, it is not required, e.g. “
我姐姐”，“好朋友”. (See Grammar, Sec 2 of Lesson 5)

壮语 The adverbial adjunct
An adverbial adjunct is used to modify a verb or an adjective. It
usually precedes the part which is being modified, e.g.
1. 我很好。
2. 他们都来。
3. 他在家看电视。

张丽英家有四口人：爸爸、妈妈、姐姐和她。
她爸爸是大夫，五十七岁了，身体很好。她工作很忙，星期天常常不
休息。
她妈妈是银行职员，今年五十五岁。
她姐姐是老师，今年二月结婚了。她不住在爸爸妈妈家。
昨天是星期五，下午没有课。我们去她家了。她家在北京饭店旁边。
我们到她家的时候，她爸爸、妈妈不在家。我们和她一起谈话、听音乐、看
电视……
五点半张丽英的爸爸、妈妈回家了。她姐姐也来了。我们在她家吃晚
饭，晚上八点半我们就回学校了。
