Homework Information

Each night (Monday-Thursday) your child will have
homework. Homework will usually consist of: Math and
Reading.
Word Work homework will be on a 2 week cycle.
On occasion your child may have a long term project which will consist of
small parts to complete over an extended period of time.
Purpose of Homework:
 To reinforce and to enrich school learning experiences
 To teach a child to follow directions and help them learn to organize their
time
 To help a child accept responsibility and develop self-reliance for assigned
work
 To keep a parent in touch with the school program and their child’s progress
Responsibility of the Teacher:
 To assign homework that has a purpose and is meaningful
 To assign homework as an extension of the classroom learning
 To evaluate completed homework
 To communicate with the guardian if homework is not completed
Responsibility of the Student:
 To listen to directions for homework prior to working on the assignments
 To complete assignments with guardian’s assistance, if necessary
 To write their name on papers
 To write their assignments in their planners
 To put the daily assignments in their folders and backpacks to be taken
home and returned to school the following day

Responsibility of the Guardian:
 To encourage the child to do their homework
 To arrange a quiet and well lit space for the child to work
To help the child by giving support and guidance without actually completing
the child’s assignment
