Dear Parents,
Reminders. . .
We hope you had a wonderful spring break with
your children and family. We are quickly
approaching the quarter 4 and the students are
working hard to prepare for 4 t h grade. W e are
excited about the learning that is taking place.
Here is what’s going on…

In Reading. . .
In Math. . .
This month’s genre is Traditional Literature.
Students are learning about folktales, myths,
legends, and fables. Some of them they already
know! They will continue to use key details to find
the theme and ask and answer questions
throughout. Students will be given the
opportunity to explore different types of stories of
some great authors to compare and contrast.
As we enter the fourth marking quarter,
students are continuing with multiplication and
division facts. Continue practicing those facts
at home so that they are fluent in them. They
are now taking all operations (addition,
subtraction, multiplication, and division) and 2step solving word problems! W hen you are out
at the store, question your child using the packs
of juice or boxes of cookies!
In Social Studies. . .
In Science. . .
Throughout the month of April, students will learn how
to budget their money! Their goal is to earn enough
money to get a class pet. Students need to decide
how they are going to earn their money and what
expenses will occur. Work with your child at home in
creating their own goal and developing their own
budget. See if they can reach it!
Students will be learning about how we, as humans,
turn food, fuel, and fibers into resources to meet our
needs. As you are using materials at home, ask your
child if he or she knows where it comes from.
In Writing. . .
Do you think uniforms should be worn in school?
How about the usage of cell phones? Maybe
even keeping animals in zoos? Your child will be
researching some of these questions to develop
an editorial. They will be researching facts to use
for support and then developing their own
opinion on the topic. Ask your child what issue
they are researching, how they feel and why.

There is always homework. Check and sign
the blue Student Planner each night.
Make sure your child is returning
W ednesday Folders. We will be returning
graded work and important notices every
W ednesday.
