Second Grade October Newsletter Dear 2nd Grade Parents, Our school year is off to a great start. Thank you for the parents who came to Back to School Night. So far we are into an awesome year. Thank you for the continued support and please work with your child each night. Reading: We administered the M-class testing and we are rolling with guided reading instructions. We will be reading non-fiction texts. We will study text features including table of contents, glossary, index, bold print, labels, pictures, and captions. Students will learn how those features help them to understand the reading. Please have your child read at least 20 minutes each night and log in their student planners. Math: In the month of October we finish learning about place value, greater than, less than, and equal to. We will learn about collecting data, displaying and interpreting data using bar graphs and pictographs. Please practice basic facts with your child each night.
