Second Grade May Newsletter
Dear 2nd Grade Parents,
We are already 4th week into our final marking period. Thank you for the continued support and we
will work hard now that our students are not too far from moving on to third grade.
Reading:
Students are learning about history through non-fiction
texts. We are identifying main idea and supporting key
details. Students will be administering last M-class testing
for the year later this month. Please make sure your child
is reading for at least 20 minutes every night even during
summer vacation.
Math:
Our math focus is fluently adding and subtracting within
1000 by composing and decomposing numbers. Students
will be using varies strategies to add and subtract. Please
practice basic facts with your child at home, adding and
subtracting within 20 mentally.
Science:
Social Studies:
We are continuing to study about the moon, sun, and Students are studying about historical events and
other stars. We are also observing the life cycle of a historical figures.
