Reading: Student w i ll read i nformati onal texts.
They w i ll be able to i denti fy and use vari ous text
features such as: table of contents, glossary,
ti tle, photographs, i ndex, headi ngs, capti ons, and
bold print. The fi rst graders w i ll be taki ng MClass (Montgomery County Assessment for
Primary Reading). The results of thi s assessment
w i ll let us know the fi nal readi ng levels four our
students.
Writing: We are on formati ve/explanatory
w ri ti ng as w ell as stati ng and w ri ti ng an opi ni on.
They w i ll w ork on organi zati on-closure, publi shuse di gi tal tools, conventi ons, capi tali zati on,
punctuati on, i deas, i ntroduci ng a topi c, supplyi ng
reasons, and sentence fluency.
Math: Students w i ll conti nue to w ork on our
geometry uni t. Students w i ll be able to i denti fy
attri butes of flat and tri -di mensi onal shapes, as
w ell as draw i ng shapes based on the gi ven
defi ni ng attri butes. Furthermore, students w i ll
be able to solve addi ti on and subtracti on
equati ons that i nclude 2-di gi ts numbers.
