5th Grade September Newsletter

Subject Snapshot
Just a Reminder…
During MP1, students will focus on the skills of
collaboration and flexibility.
The Scholastic Book Fair is
coming to Shriver!!!!
Math – Students will be working on multiplying multi-digit
whole numbers by using various strategies such as the
array model, area model, and partial product strategy.
September 25th- October
2nd!
Writing – Students will begin September by writing their
own narrative stories. After reading adventure stories,
fifth grade will be challenged to write fast paced stories of
their own!
Reading – Students will be reading adventure stories in
September. While reading the novels they will describe
different points of view, compare and contrast elements
of the plot, and locate key details within the text.
Science – Students will explore force and motion by
conducting experiments in the classroom, and begin applying
this knowledge to their upcoming Inquiry Project.
Social Studies – Students will analyze how conflict and
compromise played a role during the Revolutionary War
era.
