Your child needs to complete the assigned building for his/her green community. We can’t wait to build our towns with their projects! *Field Day for first grade will be on Wednesday, Jun 8th. volunteering will be sent home later. *First grade students will be doing their mClass reading assessment this month. Please be sure to read with your child every night and send them to school ontime and well-rested. Our first grade field trip to the Museum of Natural History is on Thursday, May 12th! We are so excited to explore the mammals, insects and gem hall. If you have not yet turned in your permission slip and money, please do so. Remember to send your child with a bagged lunch if you did not yet request one from the cafeteria. Also have them wear comfortable shoes for walking. Math: Mathematicians will be identifying 2-D and 3-D shapes and using them to make composite shapes. Then we’ll be learning about fractions and time. Reading: We will explore how non-fiction text features help readers. Then we’ll enjoy reading a variety of Junior Great Books together. Writing: Young Authors will be writing informational texts about how building green communities helps the earth. Science: Students will learn more about reduce, reuse, recycle to help the earth. Social Studies: We will be designing our communities in the classroom and taking what we know about helping the earth to make them more ‘green’.
