Literature Response Journal Vocabulary Assignment
In addition to the 3 reading reflections required, each time you submit your
LRJ entries, you must also include the following vocabulary assignment. In
other words, I am expecting (4) sheets of paper stapled… 3 written LRJ entries
and the following:
Step 1: Reread your 3 LRJ entries and check for spelling.
Step 2: As you read, circle three words that you chose that could be improved
by replacing them with stronger, more descriptive, or more specific synonyms.
Step 3: Using a thesaurus, dictionary, or other resource, identify a replacement
word for each and write down the definition word for word.
* **Challenge yourself to find vocabulary which you do not already have
mastery with.
Step 4: On a new sheet of paper, make a chart by writing each of the three
replacement words in order, with a short, 1-2 sentence, explanation of why the
newly found words more vibrantly or accurately convey what you had hoped for
in your LRJ writing. BE SPECIFIC to the context of your LRJ entry.
