Principal’s Message
As we settle into a new school year, I wanted to
review some important daily routines and
procedures.



Change in Dismissal Procedures:
If your child needs to change the way
they go home on a particular day (for
example: going home with a friend, etc.),
we request that parents send in a note
giving permission for this change. The
note can either be hand written or sent
via email. Only emergency changes can
be accepted over the phone prior to
dismissal.
Early Dismissal:
If you need to pick your child up for an
appointment prior to our regular
dismissal time (or at mid-day), we ask
that you sign the children out from the
front office. When you arrive, one of the
front office staff will call your child to the
office. In order to minimize the amount
of instruction missed, we will not have
your child wait in the office for you prior
to your arrival.
Permission to Carry a Cell Phone:
With written parent permission,
elementary school age children are
permitted to bring a cell phone to
school. If you choose to have your child
bring a cell phone to school, please
remind him/her that it is to remain
turned off and in the backpack
throughout the school day.
Morning Line Up:
 So far, the weather has been lovely and
the majority of mornings we are able to
line up outside on our blacktop. As the
weather gets cold and or rainy, we will
have indoor line up. Regardless of
indoor or outdoor line up, we encourage
parents to say farewell to their children
at the front doors of the school. Please
know that staff and patrols are on duty
throughout the building and outside to
ensure that all students get to their class
lines safely.
PEACE T-Shirt Design Contest
It’s time for us to order new PEACE T-shirts for
our students and we have decided to have a
contest to select a new logo. All students are
encouraged to take some time and think of a
symbol, picture, or phrase which represents our
PEACE Program. Students draw a logo on the
attached sheet, sign the back and turn in the
completed entry into their classroom
teacher. We will organize a panel of judges to
include staff and parents. Entries are due by
Friday, 9/27/13. One winning entry will be
selected from K-2 and one winning entry from 35. We are hoping to then have new PEACE Tshirts by the end of October.
Odyssey of the Mind is coming!
This is a great opportunity for your children to
practice creative problem solving and team
work. There will be an information meeting for
parents to learn more about the program on
Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the All Purpose
room. Mark your calendars.
Yard Sale – October 5, 2013
It is not too late!!! Tables are still available for
rental at the RCV yard sale on Saturday, October
5 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. We rent tables
out for $20.00. Come join us
for fun and hopefully a
profitable Saturday morning.
RCV PTA KidStuff Coupon Books
Please purchase or return your KidStuff coupon
books by Monday, September 23rd (deadline
extended slightly). This is one of several
fundraisers that the RCV PTA is doing this
year. To purchase the coupon book, please
return the payment of $25 (made payable to the
RCV PTA) with your child or simply return the
coupon book to the school's main office if you
are not interested in purchasing it. The RCV PTA
makes 50% ($12.50) on each coupon book that is

Book Fair at RCV
The Book Fair is coming! We need volunteers to
help run our fair. There are time slots that are
as little as fifteen minutes. Please consider
donating your time to a great fundraiser! Set up
is Friday, September 20th, at noon in the media
center. The fair is open daily Monday the 23rd
until Thursday the 26th from 8:45 a.m. until
around 4 p.m. Friday, we are open from 8:45
a.m. until noon. After the fair closes on Friday, I
need volunteers to help pack the fair back up. If

RCV Book Fair
A reminder that the book fair will be held from
Monday, 9/23/2013 – Friday, 9/27/2013. There
will also be Pizza Night at the Book Fair on
Tuesday 9/24/2013.

Do you play the piano? Do you know
someone who does? Ms. Peterson, our
music teacher, is in need of a pianist to help
