The Eagle’s Eye Rock Creek Valley Elementary School 5121 Russett Road, Rockville, MD Catherine Ann Jasperse, Principal (301) 460-2195 Fax (301)-460-2196 Julia Bialeski, Assistant Principal Friday, September 27, 2013 Principal’s Message National Walk to School Day is coming on October 9th. This is a day when students across the country are encouraged to walk to school as a way to promote overall physical fitness. At Rock Creek Valley ES, we are inviting any interested parents to walk with their children to and from school on that day rather than driving them in cars. In addition, we have made special arrangements with the department of transportation to have our school buses drop students (in grades K – 5) off at the intersection of Russett & Artic. There will be staff waiting to meet them and walk them up Russett to school that morning. So, put on your walking shoes and join us to participate in National Walk to School Day. New Procedures for Front Door By now, we hope everyone is familiar with our front access security door. In the past, people have been unable to hear the click on the door when it opens. Also, our community of deaf and hard of hearing visitors have also be unable to detect when the door is opened. Just this week, we had a new light and tone installed on our access panel. When the red button is pushed, there is a short pause and then a loud ringtone will begin for about 5 seconds. The red light will turn green. The door to your immediate left (while facing the building) will unlock again, for only 5 seconds, so it must be opened immediately. First RCV PTA Meeting-Tuesday-October 1 Please join us for our first RCV Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting of the school year on Tuesday, October 1st at 7pm-8:30pm. Profits from this table go to offset costs for student activities in school. Remember-“One man’s TRASH is another man’s TREASURE.” Yard sale is 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. We rent tables out for $20.00. Come join us for fun and hopefully a profitable Saturday morning.
