Principal’s Message
Lions, and tigers, and bears ... Oh my! While I
feel that RCV has always been a magical place, it
will become even more fantastic on November
15th when we are transformed into the Emerald
City of Oz for our annual silent and live auction
fundraiser. There will be games, crafts, and
movies for the children; as well as dinner and
snacks available for everyone in the family. But
even more than this, there will be MANY
wonderful auction items for purchase with all
proceeds going to support the instructional
program at RCV. So, mark your calendars for a
magical evening in Oz on November 15th.
Family Fun Night
It is almost here! Family Fun Night at RCV is
tonight, Oct. 11. Last call!!! You can still buy
tickets at the door.

refreshments,

Seasonal Flu Mist Clinics
The Montgomery County Department of Health
and Human Services (DHHS) will be conducting
free seasonal flu vaccine clinics in all MCPS
elementary schools and at three MCPS high
schools in November. The clinic will be held at
RCV on November 12 and will begin 30 minutes
after dismissal at 1:30 p.m... The Clinic at RCV
will only service students who are enrolled in our
school. Parents/guardians must sign up for
appointments for their children to receive the
nasal spray flu vaccine (Flu Mist) at the clinics by
contacting the school health room. Notification
letters will be sent home in your child’s Friday
Folder. School Health will send copies of the
consent form and Vaccine Information
Statement to parents/guardians after they make
an appointment.
Don’t Forget Parent Visitation Day
Monday, October 14 is Columbus Day and the
day that Montgomery County Schools has set
aside for parents to come visit their child’s
classroom. Students will love to see their
parents at school and we know parents will love
to see their child hard at work.
Yard Sale
A BIG thank you to all our families,
students and staff that helped make
this year’s yard sale yet another
success. The weather was great and the
company could not have been better. We rented
out at least 28 tables and raised $217.00 from
our RCV donation table. We made at least $600.
This will go a long way to defray costs on student
activities.

Do you feel your child could be
challenged more and what goals do you
have for your child this year -- academic,
social, emotional?
 How would you like to stay in touch with
your teacher throughout the school year
and what information is most important
for you to know about your child's
school experience?
Enjoy the time at conferences with your child's
teacher and always know that you can schedule
future phone or in person conferences with your
child's teacher throughout the year.

Parents Conferences – November 11 & 12
In just a few weeks, we will be conducting parent
teacher conferences which occur for all
elementary age students throughout MCPS.
While I hope that you remain in contact with
your child's teacher throughout the school year,
these conferences provide you with a great
opportunity to hear directly about your child's
progress and learning. Teachers will certainly
have a lot of information to share in a fairly brief
period of time, and I hope that you will all
prepare to make the best use of your conference
time by taking a few moments to reflect on what
information you most want to share and gain
prior to coming into the conference. Here are
some questions that you might want to consider
in preparation for your child's conference.
 What areas of learning, if any, are you
most concerned about for your child?
 How have you supported your child in
these areas at home and what
suggestions might the teacher have as to
how you can further promote your
child's learning?
