Principal’s Message
It was great to see so many parents with us on
Monday for Parent Visitation Day. Throughout
the building, I saw parents engaging with their
children in learning, conversation, and play.
While I know that it is not possible for everyone
to be at school watching your child's learning on
a regular basis; I encourage each of you to think
of one way that you might be able to volunteer
and be an active participant in your child's
learning this year. I look forward to seeing many
of you at school throughout the coming year and
hearing from many of you often!
KidStuff Coupon Books
The KidStuff coupon book
fundraiseras concluded. Thank
you to everyone for purchasing
these coupon books. We raised
over $2,000 for the RCV PTA! If you
still have a coupon book at home that you did

Latino Parent Meeting
October 24, 2013--The first Latino Parent
Meeting of the year will be held on Thursday,
October 24 from 6:30-8:00 in the Media
Center. Babysitting and translation services will
be provided. Refreshments will be served

PTA Fundraising
Believe Kids fundraising catalogs were sent
home this week. This catalog is filled with
exciting items for purchase (holiday wrapping
paper, candles, food items, etc). The RCV PTA
receives 50% of all sales. Do your holiday
shopping now - all items will be delivered to the
school before Christmas!
Family Fun Night
Family Fun Night was a GIGANTIC
success! We want to thank all of the
parent and child volunteers that helped. The
staff participation was HUGE!!! We appreciate
you. Thank you to the families that came out
despite all of the rain. Look for more Family Fun
Night action in April.
Halloween and Valentine's Day Parties
If you have forgotten to send in your
money to help finance the classroom
Halloween and Valentine's Day parties,
it is not too late. The suggested payment is a
total of $4/child. If you no longer have the party
form, you can just send your payment to school
in a sealed envelope with your child's name
and "PTA Classroom parties"
indicated on the outside.
Reflections
The National PTA Reflections program is an
opportunity for students to create original
artwork inspired by this year's theme, "Believe,
Dream, Inspire." Students may enter in any of 6
categories, including dance choreography, film
production, literature, musical composition,
photography, and visual arts. Entries will be
judged based on interpretation of the theme,
artistic merit/creativity, and mastery of medium.
Winning entries in each category will advance to
the next round of judging. All students who
participate will be recognized at Rock Creek
Valley. Hard copies of the official entry forms
and rules are available in the Main Office, as well
as online via the RCV PTA website, rcvpta.org.
Entries must be submitted to the Main Office no
later than the end of the school day on Friday,
November 15. Be sure to read and follow the
rules carefully, as entries must be disqualified if
they don't adhere to the guidelines. Please
encourage your children to participate! If you

Student Picture Day Next Week
On Wednesday, October 23, Lifetouch Studios
will be at RCV to take student fall portraits. An
order form will be sent home with your child in
their Friday Folder.
1. Please send your order form on the day
of the photograph for your best value.
2. Exact change is required.
Photographers are not permitted to
give change. .
3. Enclose Cash, M.O. or check payable to
Lifetouch.
If you are not satisfied, return your portraits on
retake day and Lifetouch will re-photograph
free of charge. Still not satisfied? Return them
for a full refund.

Halloween Parade and Parties
