2014 school year was held on October 24, 2013in
the RCV Media Center. We want to thank all our
parents who took time to attend this very
important evening. We had a terrific turnout.
The next Latino Night will be January 16, 2014.

Fall Family Dance
Correction:
There was an incorrect date listed under
Principal’s Message in last week’s Eagle’s Eye.
The deadline date to donate an item or services
to the auction was not 10/13/13 but will be
1115-2013.
Put on your dancing shoes! Mark your calendars
for the Fall Family Dance, which will be held on
Friday, Nov 8th from 7-8:30 pm. It's not quite
Dancing with the Stars, but is a lot of fun for the
entire family!
Health Notes
It’s cold and flu season.
We would like to remind
you that if your child has a
fever in the morning, close
to, or above 100, please do not send them
to school that day. Children who feel ill at
school and are sent to the health room will
have their temperature taken. School policy
is for students who have a temperature of
100 or higher to be sent home. Please also
keep in mind that when a child does have a
fever, they are required to be “fever free”
for 24 hours before returning to school. On
the preventative side, we encourage
teachers to use hand sanitizer and frequently
remind students to wash their hands.
Also, we have spaces left at our FREE Flu
Mist Clinic which will be held here at Rock
Creek Valley on Tuesday afternoon,
November 12th, from 1:30 to 3:15 PM. If
you are interested in having your child
receive the Flu Mist please call Ms. Siatta
Buxton, our Health Tech, at 301-460-2195
on Monday morning to schedule an individual
appointment for Tuesday afternoon.
Student Dismissal
The following are two dismissal reminders for
parents:
 Recently, the office has received several
phone calls in the late afternoon from
parents wanting to make changes in
their child’s dismissal procedures. We
would like to ask that for nonemergency changes in dismissal, a note
be sent in with the child, or that the
parents call in the morning, because
when parents call during or right before
dismissal, it makes dismissal more
confusing, and it is disruptive to
afternoon classes.

Parents are also asked to pick their
child(ren) up at 3:30 p.m. Several
children are not picked up until much
later between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m. While
we understand there are always
unforeseen situations or emergencies
that arise, parents need to be here
promptly at dismissal time. If you do
have an emergency, a call to school
would be appreciated.
