Principal’s Message
So little time, and so much to do! The final days of school are flying by, but there are still quite a
few fun activities that I hope you can participate in before the final day of school.
First off, Field Day will be held on Monday, June 2nd. There are three critical times when we
need volunteers: Before school to assist with set up (any time between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m.), and
during morning field day activities (from 9:30 – 12:00) and (from 12:30-3:00). If you are able to
volunteer during either of these times, please complete the form on the attached page of the
newsletter and return it to Ms. Amos, our PE teacher.
Second, our annual spring carnival will be held on the evening of Friday, May 30. This will be a
great time to have fun with your family playing carnival games, socializing with friends, and
enjoying lots of fun! This is a fundraiser for our school, and so games and other activities will cost
money. Mark your calendars, wear some comfortable shoes, bring some cash and come to the
carnival!
Friday, May 16 is the annual Talent Show at 7:00 p.m. in the All Purpose Room. Dress Rehearsal
for the talent show will be on Tuesday, May 13. This is a wonderful venue for our RCV students
to show case their talents and skills.
Tuesday, May 20 is our spring concert – both our 4th and 5th grade choruses will be performing.
The evening concert is free and begins at 7:00 p.m. in the all-purpose room.
Tuesday, June 10 is our final PEACE assembly in the morning at 9:30 and our Run the Diner Night
at Silver Diner that evening. Both are great opportunities for you to celebrate another successful
year with your child at RCV.
I hope to see many of you at these events!
Honors Chorus
RCV IS PROUD to have Spencer Finnegan, Isaac Hill and Karina Rivera-Lanze in the Montgomery
County Honors Chorus! Honors Chorus brings together the top singers from each elementary
school in the county. They have been rehearsing since February. Their hard work will
culminate in a fabulous concert on Tuesday, May 13 at Montgomery Blair High School. The
concert begins at 8:15 P.M.
PTA Meeting – May 6
Please join us for the May 6th PTA meeting starting at 6:45pm with a presentation on internet safety
from Mr. WIlliam Gale from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. We will meet in the
RCV Media Center. Free babysitting will be provided by BarT and translation into Spanish will be
available.
Parent Input Form
Again this week, we are attaching the brief parent input form that we encourage all of you to fill out and
return prior to May 16th. You can do this in one of two ways:
 Print and complete a hard copy of the parent input form and return it to your child’s teacher or
the front office.
 Complete the form electronically and email it as an attachment to your child’s current teacher,
myself, or Mrs. Bialeski (all email addresses can be found on the RCV web-site).
If there is other personal or private information which you feel should be considered when making class
placements and would like to share this with me directly; just give me a call or schedule a time to meet
with me.
There will be NO SCHOOL for current kindergartners on Thursday,
May 8 and Friday, May 9. We will be hosting Kindergarten
Orientation for new students coming to Rock Creek valley for
kindergarten next year.

There is no other group in your life that you will spend more time with than your class. You laugh and
learn together, share great times and, along the way, discover, your own personality and individual
style.—inspired by friendships in this group. As time passes, memories may fade, but a class photo last
forever. Portrait day for Grade 5 is Thursday, May 8. Look for the flyer and order form will be sent
home on Tuesday, May 6.
Final Notice - Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten Orientation is next week on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. On these two days there
will be NO SCHOOL for current Kindergarten students. Students must be 5 on or before September 1,
2014 in order to attend school We are sending home Kindergarten Orientation packets to parents of
incoming kindergartners, with information regarding required paperwork as well as a date/time for you
to come to Rock Creek Valley ES for Kindergarten Orientation. On these days, we will be registering your
child, and your child will have the opportunity to meet the current Kindergarten teachers, as well as
have a chance to work with them. On the day of orientation you should bring with you:

Legal Identification (such as a passport, or driver’s license) for the parent

 Birth Certificate
Current lease, property tax bill, OR shared housing form AND 3 pieces of mail
 Current record of immunizations for student

Queda tan poco tiempo y mucho por hacer! Los últimos días de la escuela estan volando, pero
todavía tenemos un considerable número de actividades divertidas que esperamos ustedes
puedan participar antes del último día de la escuela.
Antes que nada, el Día de Juegos (Field Day) se llevará a cabo el Lunes, 2 de Junio. Hay tres horas
críticas donde nosotros necesitamos voluntarios: Antes de la escuela para ayudar a alistar el
campo (a cualquier hora entre 7:00 y 9:00 a.m.), y en la mañana durante las actividades del field

grado estarán ejecutando. La noche del concierto es gratuito y comienza a las 7:00 p.m. en el

El Martes, 10 de Junio es nuestro última asamblea PEACE en la mañana a las 9:30 y nuestro Run
the Diner Night en Silver Diner esa noche. Ambas son grandes oportunidades para celebrar otro
año exitoso con su niño en RCV.

Coro de honores
LA ESCUELA RCV ESTA ORGULLOSA de tener a Spender Finnegan, Isaac Hill y Karina RiveraLanze en el Coro de Honores del Condado de Montgomery! El Coro de Honores une a los
mejores cantantes de cada escuela elemental del condado. Ellos han estado ensayando desde
Febrero. Su duro trabajo culminará en un concierto fabuloso el Martes, 13 de Mayo en
Montgomery Blair High School. El concierto empieza a las 8:15 p.m.
Reunión de PTA – 6 de Mayo
