Principal’s Message
As we continue to move towards the end of the school year, we are also making plans for next year. Some
of those plans include hiring of new staff. I wanted to share the latest staffing updates for next year with
everyone.
As you all know, Mrs. Carter, our administrative secretary, Mrs. Williamson, one of our attendance
secretaries, and Mrs. Swingler, one of our ESOL teachers, will be retiring at the end of this year. We will
be having a small shared celebration for them as they get ready to retire after school on May 28 th from
4:00 – 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in joining staff to celebrate the hard work and dedication that each
of these women have shared with RCV, please email me to let me know so that we can get a general count
of participants for our celebration.
Also, we will have some changes in teaching staff as some teachers take new positions and other teachers
come to join us at RCV. Just recently, we were allocated additional resources for a second special
education resource teacher position and have welcomed Mrs. Crystal Rouse to our staff.
Ms. Keeter will be moving to teach 5th grade at RCV next year. This will leave a vacancy at first grade and
we are excited to be welcoming Jessica Gay, an experienced MCPS teacher, to that position. Also, we will
be joined by Meredith Luther, an experienced part time ESOL teacher next year at RCV. Both Mr. Howard
and Mrs. Markey have decided to move to 3rd grade and this will leave a vacancy at 2nd grade. Mrs. Kissal
(formerly Ms. Bainbridge) will be returning to RCV after long-term academic leave to fill that position.
I know that you join me in welcoming all these talented people to (and in some cases, back to) RCV for
the coming school year!
Spaghetti Dinner
Tonight, May 9, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. is the Grade 5 Spaghetti Dinner. Don’t
miss out! It is a great way to spend some time with our RCV community and
help raise money for the Grade 5 end of the year activities!
Field Day
Field Day will be held on June 2nd. We are still looking for
volunteers to help make it a big success. Anyone who is
interested should contact the main office at RCV, or email Kathy

Talent Show
Next week is the Annual Talent Show at Rock Creek Valley. Dress Rehearsal is Tuesday, May 13.
The Talent Show will be held on Friday, May 16 at 7:00
p.m. Come out and share in the enjoyment of watching
our talented Rock Creek Valley students perform.
RCV Carnival
The 4th annual RCV Carnival is coming soon! Please consider
volunteering by signing up using sign-up genius. We'll need volunteers
to be available from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30th. Free dinner
provided to all volunteers. We have 16 games planned, a moon bounce,
obstacle course, face painting, dunk tank, great carnival food, fun prizes,
karaoke, and a balloon artist. Pick where you'd like to help - if you are
having trouble using the sign up genius, contact David Goodman at [email protected] and
he will get you signed up.
This is the PTA's largest fundraiser of the year, but we need lots of help pulling this off.

YEARBOOK PRE-SALE
There are still approximately 30 yearbooks left for sale out of 200. Lifetouch will still accept checks for
presale through May. They do go fast, so if you are interested, please send your order blank and money
to the office as soon as possible. The cost is $18.00. Online ordering is no longer available.

Summer School at RCV
If your child has been invited to participate in the local summer school at RCV, please turn in your
paperwork and money A.S.A.P.! We are trying to get organized and prepared for summer school and it is
important that we know how many students are planning on attending.
Lost & Found
We are nearing the end of the school year and there are a lot of items in the lost & found. If your child
has lost or misplaced something at school this year and has not found it please encourage them to check
the lost and found. At the end of the school year any items left at school will be donated to a charitable
organization.
Principal’s Message
Mientras continuamos avanzando hacia el fin del año escolar, también estamos haciendo planes para el
próximo año. Algunos de esos planes incluyen contratar nuevo personal. Quería compartir con todos
Ustedes las últimas actualizaciones del personal para el proximo año escolar.
Como todos saben, la Sra. Carter, nuestra secretaria administrativa; la Sra. Williamson, una de nuestras
secretarias de asistencia y la Sra. Swingler, una de nuestras maestras de ESOL; estarán retirándose al final
de este año. Nosotros tendremos una pequeña celebración después de la escuela, el 28 de Mayo de 4:00
– 5:30 p.m. Si está interesado en unirse al personal a celebrar el trabajo duro y dedicación que cada una
de estas mujeres ha compartido con RCV, por favor envíeme un correo electrónico y hágamelo saber, asi
podremos saber el número de participantes para nuestra celebración.
También tenemos algunos cambios en el staff de profesores debido a que algunos de ellos toman nuevas
posiciones y otros profesores viene a unirse a RCV. Recientemente, se nos fue asignado recursos
adicionales para educación especial, posición de Profesora de Recursos y hemos dado la bienvenida a la
Sra. Crystal Rouse.
La Srita. Keeter estará enseñando el 5to grado en RCV el próximo año. Esto deja una vacante en el Primer
grado y estamos contentos de dar la bienvenida a Jessica Gay, una profesora experimentada de MCPS a
esta posición. También, se nos unirá Meredith Luther, una experimentada profesora de ESOL de medio
tiempo el próximo año en RCV. El Sr. Howard y la Sra. Markey han decidido moverse al 3er grado y esto
dejará vacantes en los Grados 2. La Sra. Kissal (anteriormente Srita. Bainbridge) estará retornando a RCV
después de una larga licencia académica para llenar la posición.
Sé que ustedes se me unirán en dar la bienvenida a todas estas talentosas personas (y en alguno de los
casos, el regreso) a RCV para el próximo año escolar!
Cena de Tallarines
Esta noche, 9 de Mayo de 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. es la Cena de Tallarines del 5to
grado. No se lo pierda! Es una buena manera de pasar el tiempo con nuestra
comunidad de RCV y ayudar a recaudar dinero para las actividades de fin de
año del 5to Grado!
Día de Juegos (Field Day)
El Día de Juegos se llevará a cabo el 2 de Junio. Todavía estamos
necesitando voluntarios para que esto sea un gran suceso. Si
alguien esta interesado, debe contactarse con la oficina de la

Show de Talentos
La próxima semana es el Show Anual de Talentos en Rock Creek Valley. El ensayo del vestuario
para el Show de Talentos es el Martes 13 de Mayo. El
Show de Talentos se llevará a cabo el Viernes, 16 de
Mayo a las 7:00 p.m. Venga y comparta el placer de
observar la actuación de nuestros talentosos
estudiantes de Rock Creek Valley.
Carnaval de RCV
El 4to Carnaval Anual de RCV será pronto! Por favor considere ser
voluntario, registrándose en la página de Sign-Up Genius. Nosotros
necesitaremos voluntarios que estén disponibles el Viernes 30 de Mayo,
de 5:30 hasta 8:00 p.m. Se proveerá cena gratis a todos los voluntarios.

obstáculos, caritas pintadas, tanque de agua, grandiosa comida de
carnaval, premios divertidos, karaoke y un artista de globos. Escoja dónde le gustaría ayudar- si Usted

Esta es la recaudación de fondos más grande del año del PTA, pero necesitamos de mucha
ayuda para poder llevarlo a cabo.

Si su niño ha sido invitado a participar en la escuela de verano local de RCV, por favor retorne el papeleo
y el dinero tan pronto como sea posible! Estamos tratando de organizarnos y prepararnos para la
escuela de verano y es importante que sepamos cuántos estudiantes estan planeando asistir.
Perdido y Encontrado
Estamos acercándonos al final del año escolar y hay muchos artículos en “Perdido y Encontrado”. Si su
niño ha perdido algo en la escuela y no lo ha encontrado, por favor le animamos a chequear en “Perdido
y Encontrado”. Al final del año escolar, los artículos que se hayan dejado en la escuela, serán donados a
una organización de caridad.
