Principal’s Message
Summer vacation is right around the corner. It lasts for more than two months. Absence from school,
however, does not mean absence from learning. There are plenty of opportunities to keep students
learning actively throughout the summer.
 Have your child keep a diary of family trips and other activities. A trip to the mountains or the
beach thus becomes a writing experience exercise for the whole family.
 Do not let children lose the habit of reading. Establish a family reading time every day.
 Even if you do not go anywhere “special” for a vacation, there are many opportunities at home
to challenge your child. Most communities have museums and historical sites the family can
visit. Markets and country fairs showcase a potpourri of foods, culture, and arts that provide
great learning experiences.
 Is there an airport or seaport nearby? A visit there can be quite the adventure as kids learn
about far away places and how people get there.
 A hike in the woods can be an exciting lesson as you teach map and compass reading as well as
plant, animal and bird identification.
 A drive to visit relatives offers interesting attractions along the way. Reading billboards, or
playing number games with license plates can make the time go faster and keep the “gray
matter “alive.
THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT PARENTS SEE SUMMER AS A TIME OF LEARNING AS WELL AS
PLAY!
5th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Our 5th graders will be participating in a Promotion Ceremony Wednesday, June 11, at 6:00 p.m
Family and friends of our 5th grade students are invited to attend.
Popsicles at Lunch
Reminder - Ms. Katie and Ms. Marie would like to celebrate our retirement with the students at
lunch on Monday, June 9. We will be providing popsicles for all students. If for some reason
your child should not have a popsicle, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer
them an alternative.
RCV Carnival
It’s here-The Carnival is tonight. Don’t miss out on a fun evening at RCV
with your children and community. We have 16 games planned, a moon
bounce, obstacle course, face painting, dunk tank, great carnival food, fun
prizes, karaoke, and a balloon artist.
This is the PTA's largest fundraiser of the year!
Instrumental Music Concert
The RCV Instrumental Music students, under the direction of Linda Gausseres will host two
performances on Wednesday, June 4th. One performance is for students at RCV at 2:00 p.m.
and the other one is for family and friends at 7:00 p.m. in the All Purpose Room.
YEARBOOKS ARE HERE-LIMITED AMOUNT AVAILABLE
The Yearbooks have arrived and were distributed today to all students who had presale orders. There
are approximately 30 yearbooks left to purchase. You can still purchase a yearbook. The cost is $18.00.
If you need an order form they are available in the main office. Checks should now be made
out to Rock Creek Valley not Lifetouch. Don’t delay—they sell quickly.
Field Day
Field Day will be held on June 2nd. We are still looking for
volunteers to help make it a big success. Anyone who is interested
should contact the main office at RCV, or email Kathy Amos at

D/HOH Preschool Promotion Ceremony
The promotion ceremony for D/HOH Preschool will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from
9:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. All parents are welcome to attend.
All Student Books are due May 30th
It’s time to check all the special places that children safely stash their library books. As
we prepare for the inventory, all student books are due in the Media Center by Friday,
June 6.
Last Chance for Lost and Found
Soon, the school year will be over and any remaining items in our clothing lost and found will be
donated to a charity and/or used in our health room for students needing a change of clothes
during the school day. If you believe your child has lost an item of clothing at school, please
check the lost and found (coat hooks inside and outside of the all-purpose room) before the final
day of school. Also, if any parents are willing to volunteer to wash lost items left after the final
day of school, please let the front office know.
Children’s Medication Pick-Up
If your child has medication at school, please collect it by June 13 before 1:00 p.m.
Medicine cannot be sent home with children. The medication will be destroyed if not picked up
by this day and time. For D/HOH Extended School Year children, new medication authorization
forms must be submitted for the summer sessions and dated/signed by the physician. These
forms may be picked up in the Health Room or main office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Last Day of School!
The last day of school is June 13! Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.

Please complete this form to let us know if your child(ren) in Grades K-4 ONLY will NOT be returning
this fall and send back to school by Friday, June 6. Also, check the address on your child’s last report card.
4th Quarter Report cards will be mailed home on or about June 23 rd . If the address is wrong, please list

Mensaje de la Directora
Las vacaciones de verano estan a la vuelta de la esquina. Este dura más de dos meses. La ausencia de la
escuela, sin embargo, no significa ausencia de aprendizaje. Hay muchas oportunidades para que los
estudiantes mantengan el aprendizaje activamente a través del verano.
 Haga que su niño mantenga un diario de los viajes familiares u otras actividades. Un viaje a las
montañas o a la playa, por consiguiente, puede llegar a convertirse en un ejercicio de escritura
para toda la familia.
 No haga que los niños pierdan el hábito de leer. Establezca una horario de lectura familiar cada
día.
 Aún si ustedes no van a ningún lugar “especial” de vacaciones, hay muchas oportunidades en
casa para retar a los niños. La mayoría de comunidades tienen museos y sitios históricos que la
familia puede visitar. Los mercados y las ferias rurales exhiben una colección de comidas, cultura
y arte, que provee grandes experiencias de aprendizaje.
 ¿Hay un aeropuerto o puerto marítimo cerca? Una visita allí puede ser una aventura
interesante, en tanto que los niños aprenden acerca de lugares lejanos, asi de cómo la gente
consigue llegar allá.
 Una caminata entre los árboles puede ser una lección emocionante, en tanto que usted les
enseña a leer el mapa y la brújula; así como la identificación de una planta, un animal y un
pájaro.
 Manejar para visitar a los parientes ofrece interesantes atracciones a lo largo del camino. Leer
carteles o jugar juegos de números con las placas de los autos, puede hacer que el tiempo pase
más rápido y mantenga viva la “materia gris”.
LO IMPORTANTE ES QUE LOS PADRES VEAN EL VERANO COMO UN TIEMPO DE APRENDER, ASI
COMO DE JUGAR!
La Ceremonia de Promoción del 5to Grado
Nuestros niños de 5to grado estarán participando de la Promoción de Ceremonia el Miércoles,
11 de Junio a a las 6:00 p.m. La familia y amigos de nuestros estudiantes de 5to grado estan
invitados a asistir.
Paletas en el almuerzo
Recordatorio - La Sra. Katie y la Sra. Williamson les gustaría celebrar su retiro con los
estudiantes en la hora del almuerzo el Lunes, 9 de Junio. Ellas estarán repartiendo paletas para
todos los estudiantes. Si por alguna razón su niño no puede tener una paleta, por favor
háganoslo saber y nosotros podemos proveer algo alternativo para ellos.
Carnaval de RCV
Esta aqui-El Carnaval es esta noche. No se pierda una noche de diversión
en RCV con sus niños y comunidad. Tenemos 16 juegos planeados: una
colchoneta saltarina, una carrera de obstáculos, caritas pintadas, tanque
de agua, grandiosa comida de carnaval, premios divertidos, karaoke y un
artista de globos.

PTA!
Concierto Instrumental de Música
Los estudiantes de Música Instrumental de RCV, bajo la dirección de Linda Gausseres harán dos
presentaciones el Miércoles 4 de Junio, una de ellas, para los estudiantes de RCV a las 2:00
p.m., y, la otra, para la familia y amigos a las 7:00 p.m. en el Cuarto de Todo Propósito (All
Purpose Room).
LOS ANUARIOS ESTAN AQUI-MONTO LIMITADO DISPONIBLE
Los Anuarios han arribado y fueron distribuidos hoy a los estudiantes que compraron en la preventa. Hay aproximadamente 30 anuarios que quedan para ser comprados. Usted todavia
puede comprar un anuario. El costo es de $18.00.
Si Usted necesita una orden de compra, ellos están disponibles en la oficina de la escuela. Los
cheques ahora deben ser hechos A NOMBRE DE ROCK CREEK VALLEY, no Lifetouch. No

Día de Juegos
El Día de Juegos se llevará a cabo el 2 de Junio. Todavía estamos

Ceremonia de Promoción de los Pre-escolares de D/HOH
La ceremonia de promoción para los pre-escolares de D/HOH se llevará a cabo el Martes
10 de Junio de 9:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Todos los padres son bienvenidos en asistir.
Todos los libros de los estudiantes deben ser devueltos hasta el 6 de Junio
Es hora de buscar en los lugares especiales donde los niños esconden sus libros de la
biblioteca. En tanto nos preparamos para el inventario, todos los libros de los
estudiantes deben ser devueltos a la Biblioteca (Media Center) el Viernes, 6 de Junio.
Ultimo chance para “Perdido y Encontrado”
Pronto, el año escolar se termina y todos los artículos que se quedaron en nuestro “Perdido y
Encontrado” de ropa será donado a la caridad y/o usado en nuestra enfermería para los
estudiantes que necesiten cambio de ropa durante el año escolar. Si usted cree que su niño ha
perdido una prenda de ropa en la escuela, por favor chequee “Perdido y Encontrado” (hay un
gancho de abrigos dentro y fuera del Cuarto de Todo Propósito) antes del último día de la
escuela. También, si algún padre está disponible en lavar los artículos perdidos después del
último día de la escuela, por favor hágalo saber en la oficina de la escuela
Recojo de Medicamentos de los Niños
Si su niño tiene medicamentos en la escuela, por favor recójalo hasta el 13 de Junio antes
de la 1:00 p.m. La medicina no puede ser enviada a casa con los niños. La medicación será
destruida si usted no la recoje para este día y hora. Para los niños de D/HOH del Año Escolar
Extendido (Extended School Year), nuevos formularios de autorización de medicamentos deben
ser presentados para la sesión de verano, firmado y fechado por el médico. Estos formularios
pueden ser recogidos en la Enfermería o en la oficina de la escuela. Gracias por su cooperación.
Ultimo Día de la Escuela!
El último día de la escuela es el 13 de Junio! Los estudiantes se irán a la
casa a la 1:00 p.m.
Encuesta/Cambios de Dirección
Por favor complete el formulario para hacernos saber si su niño(s) en Grados K-4 SOLAMENTE NO
estarán retornando este otoño a RCV y envíelo de regreso a la escuela hasta el Viernes 6 de Junio. También,
verifique la dirección de su niño en el último reporte de notas. El 4to Reporte de Notas será enviado a casa
en o cerca al 23 de Junio. Si la dirección está incorrecta, por favor escriba la dirección correcta abajo.
